A trundle bed is a bed that was specifically designed as a 2-in-1 bed. It’s perfect for those that don’t have a lot of space and where storage is an issue. They resemble standard beds but have rollers attached to the side. This is so you can slide another bed under the main one.

These beds are growing in popularity due to their innovative design. We love how much space we can save and be surprised at just how comfortable the beds are. A trundle bed is perfect when you need extra sleeping space for your guests. Add the bed to your kids’ room for the ultimate sleepover. Do you like the fact that double bunks give you extra sleeping space but hate the way they look? Then a trundle bed would be the ideal solution. When not in use, the second bed can be rolled away, out of sight. It also offers handy drawers for storage.

This is a great value-for-money memory foam mattress that is cool and provides a comfortable night’s sleep. It has several interesting features, including the green tea-infused memory foam and ActivCharcoal complex. The mattress comes in four different thickness levels: 6”, 8”, 10″, and 12″. This mattress was designed for pressure relief and is perfect for someone of average weight, side and back sleepers.

It’s ideal for couples or bed-sharing as it isolates movement very well. Side sleepers will love the pressure relief in their hips and shoulders. The soft profile allows sleepers to sink into the mattress, which provides sinkage around pressure-filled joints. This is the best twin mattress for a trundle bed.

If you get hot when you sleep, this might not be the best fit because memory foam tends to trap heat. The ActivCharcoal and green tea extract do help combat this fact, but not enough to help cool the sleeper down. Another feature that was lacking was the edge support. This makes the usable area of the bed a lot smaller. If you suffer from hip pain and prefer to sleep on your stomach, this can be problematic. Sleeping on your stomach causes you to sink into the mattress and creates an unhealthy posture that can make the pain even worse.

    What are our favorite features?
  • We love the fact that it comes with a 100-night sleep trial. If you don’t like it, you can return it no questions asked. It’s built with four layers of memory foam, polyfoam, and high-density foam which makes it extra soft and comfortable. Sinking into the mattress feels amazing, and the pressure relief system was excellent at relieving back neck and shoulder pain. We were also very impressed with how well the mattress was able to isolate individual movement.
    What could be better?
  • One of the areas that need improvement is the fact that the mattress has hardly any bounce. It also traps your body heat and allows for very little airflow or ventilation. This makes users uncomfortable and hot. The standard polyester cover also stuck to the skin, which wasn't pleasant. The mattress had an unpleasant gassy smell that took longer than 24 hours to dissipate after unboxing.

Amerisleep AS3 Hybrid

Features
  • Material: memory foam and coils
  • Cover: polyester
  • Available sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King, Split King
  • Thickness: not specified
  • Warranty: 20 years

More features: 100-night trial, made in the USA, cooling, isolate motion transfer, increased comfort, open-cell design, extra airflow

This mattress has a medium feel profile which will suit most sleeping styles. It feels like you’re wrapped in a comforting hug. The layers of foam were designed to offer noticeable contouring, and it’s much more responsive than traditional memory foam. It features pocketed coils that give the bed an excellent amount of bounce. This helps for restless sleepers as it aids in repositioning.

The AS3 Hybrid features Boi-Pur foam for maximum comfort. It offered targeted pressure relief and was designed to contour the curves of your body. The coils provide targeted zoning for the shoulders and hips. This helps alleviate any excess strain on your body. Even though you still experience the sinking feeling, there is still adequate support that sufficiently balances it out. The additional support system provides support under the lumbar region and keeps your spine in neutral alignment.

    What makes it stand out?
  • Traditional memory foam traps heat, but this mattress was designed to combat this problem. It features a sleep-cooling system that allows airflow. The Bio-Pur foam and individual pocket coils ensure that there is adequate airflow and stop you from overheating when you sleep. We also love the exceptional edge support, amazing motion isolation, and that it has a great amount of bounce. One of our favorite features is that the company is very Eco-conscious and uses plant-based materials instead of just petroleum.
Which disadvantages must you keep in mind?
  • It retains more heat than the hybrid mattress and can’t be paired with a box spring. The memory foam was amazing to snuggle into, but after a while, users often wake up because it gets too hot. In our opinion, it won’t be a good fit for those that easily sweat or run hot while sleeping. The open-cell design and Bio-Pur memory foam are supposed to keep it cooler than other memory foam mattresses, but many people still get overheated and need to sleep in only a t-shirt to be comfortable.

More features: 100 nights trial

This mattress has a firm profile and features charcoal and copper-infused memory foam over pocketed coils. The comfort layer section is much thinner compared to other hybrid mattresses. The firmness of this mattress makes it perfect for stomach and back sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds. If you weigh under that, the company offers an optional down alternative mattress pad.

If you’re on a tight budget but don’t want to compromise on comfort, then this mattress may be the ideal solution. The motion isolation feature makes this a perfect bed for couples. It features pressure relief for your joints, hips, back, and shoulders. If heat is an issue for you, this mattress was designed with you in mind. The firmer surface allows for better ventilation, so you won’t get too hot while you sleep. The memory foam infused with charcoal and copper gel all helps keep you cool.

The Supreme option is the most improved model. It features individually wrapped pocketed coils and additional edge support. This provides a more usable sleeping surface. It’s the best memory foam mattress for a twin day bed with a trundle mattress.

    Why are we impressed?
  • We loved the fact that the mattress temperature remains neutral and that it has great temperature regulation. There are three different comfort levels, so no matter your sleeping preference, you can find what you're looking for. It's a great mattress with excellent features at a reasonable price point. We think this is excellent value for money and will suit most sleeping styles.
What negatives must you be aware of?
  • However, the motion isolation feature could be better because if you're a light sleeper, you could still be woken up when your partner moves around. The firmer sleeping surface seemed to cause painful pressure points. We love the sinking feeling that you experience with most memory foam mattresses, but unfortunately, this lacks that close comforting feeling. Also, the mattress seemed to be very noisy when changing sleeping positions.

Best Gel Infused Mattress

ELUX Signature

Features
  • Material: gel-infused memory foam, wrapped coils
  • Cover: stretch cotton rib knit fabric, 435g Ice double jacquard fabric with FR fiber compounded to the back
  • Available sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King
  • Thickness: 10 inches
  • Warranty: not specified

More features: cooling, comfortable

It has a medium-firm feel that is ideal for back, side, and stomach sleepers. The gel-infused open-cell foam helps with airflow and ventilation. Features to mention include motion transfer, pressure relief, and spine alignment. The motion transfer feature is so amazing that you can roll on one side of the bed while balancing a glass of wine on the other. If you’re a light sleeper and share the bed with a partner, then this bed would be the perfect solution.

The temperature regulation feature uses open cell foam for cycling the air through the mattress, which allows for better ventilation. This model can be used with a trundle, box spring, platform base, or slatted bed. It’s best for all sleeping positions, hot sleepers, and couples. If you suffer from back pain, you should experience some relief. There are a number of different firmness options to choose between.

    What are our favorite features?
  • We have to say, and we love the fact that the company is owned and operated by United States veterans in Evansville, Indiana. Regarding the mattress, the gel-infused memory foam felt like sleeping on a cloud. The gel helps you stay cool and comfortable while you sleep. The mattress was both supportive and cushioning. It's great value for money and provides a quality night’s sleep. Best of all, we love the fact that it has a 120-night trial. If you don’t enjoy sleeping on it, simply return it for a refund.
    What could be better?
  • We didn’t like the fact that you only get one firmness option. The mattress had an off-putting gassy smell, but it did disappear after a couple of hours. As long as you like the feel of foam, you should find this mattress comfortable. Note that if you are on the heavier side, then it might not offer as much support as you may need.

Best Copper Infused Mattress

Layla Memory Foam Mattress

Features
  • Material: memory foam, copper gel
  • Cover: not specified
  • Available sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King
  • Thickness: not specified
  • Warranty: lifetime

More features: made in the USA, cooling, variable support, antimicrobial

The most amazing feature about this mattress is that it’s double-sided and can be flipped. This gives the mattress more durability and versatility. Each side of the mattress has a different firmness level. The foundation is in the center of the mattress, which allows you to flip it and sleep on both sides. It’s infused with copper to draw body heat away from you and disperse it throughout the mattress.

All foams used in the Layla bed are CertiPUR-US certified. This means that they are made without mercury, lead, ozone depleters, or other harsh chemicals. It feels light and airy, like sleeping on a fluffy cloud. It still hugs you in all the right places, but it doesn’t give you that sinking-in feeling. The movement isolation feature means that you will hardly feel your partner sleeping next to you at night.

    Why is it special?
  • We loved the fact there were two different firmness options and that it has a soft-touch surface. The fact that each side is a different color makes it easy to identify the firmness you desire. If you tend to change sleeping positions often, then this mattress was designed for you. It’s perfect for combination sleepers that can’t decide on a sleeping position.
    What are the flaws?
  • Those that are a bit heavier may find that the mattress lacks support. If you enjoy sinking into your mattress, this isn't the one for you. It's very firm, and you will stay on top of the surface of the bed. There wasn’t much edge support to speak of, which made sharing the sleeping area rather cramped. In addition, the mattress doesn’t have cooling features, so we found that one can get very hot during the night.

This mattress category caters to kids too! This mattress was specifically designed for children between the ages of three and twelve. It has two sides that offer different firmness levels. This makes it ideal for growing children. The firmer side is for children up to the age of seven. It was perfectly designed to aid proper development for their growing bodies. The softer side is for them as they get older and will be suitable for them up to the age of twelve. It offers a 5″ innerspring and a custom foam design.

The mattress is made from CertiPUR-US, which means that your children won’t be exposed to dangerous chemicals, lead, or phthalate. It has a hypoallergenic, breathable cover that provides excellent levels of airflow. Your kids won’t sweat or have an itchy night. The mattress is water-repellent and stain-resistant. This makes it perfect for potty training and beyond.

    Why is it special?
  • We loved the odor-fighting Antimicrobial Tech that combats odor-causing bacteria and ensures that your child has a peaceful sleeping environment. We let the experts, our kids, test the mattress, and they agreed that it's comfortable and said they enjoyed sleeping on it. It’s perfect for children from the ages of 3 – 12, meaning the mattress will give you years of use. The price is very budget-friendly and offers great value for money.
    What are the flaws?
  • We didn’t like the fact the mattress retains so much heat. It doesn’t offer as much support as you would like, and an adult wouldn't be comfortable sleeping in it. Know that there was an unboxing smell, but it did dissipate after a few hours. There isn't much pressure relief, but there is enough to be suitable for children.

Also, look for options where the company offers a sleep trial of 100-days or more. Options that are engineered to protect sleepers and are hypoallergenic are always the ideal choice.
